Mayor Henriette Reker is the new Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Koelnmesse
At its most recent meeting, the Supervisory Board of Koelnmesse unanimously elected Mayor Henriette Reker as its Chairwoman.
"Trade fairs have tremendous economic significance for the city of Cologne and the surrounding region, and Koelnmesse is one of the most important economic drivers. I'm looking forward to being part of the future of this company," said Mayor Reker as she accepted the results of her election as the Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Koelnmesse GmbH. "Even before Ms. Reker was elected Mayor of the city of Cologne, we had come to know her as an experienced, committed and strong-willed individual. We look forward with pleasure to cooperating with her," said Gerald Böse, President and Chief Executive Officer of Koelnmesse. As the Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, Ms. Reker is automatically also the Chairwoman of the Shareholders' Assembly of Koelnmesse GmbH. In addition, the Supervisory Board voted to appoint Mayor Reker to the committees of Koelnmesse and to the Steering Group of Koelnmesse's comprehensive investment program, Koelnmesse 3.0.
Henriette Reker, who was born in Cologne on 9 December 1956, is the first woman in the history of Cologne to guide the city's fortunes as its Mayor. Cologne is the fourth-largest city in the Federal Republic of Germany. She was elected Mayor on 18 October 2015 in the first round of voting. Before becoming Mayor, she had been Head of the Department of Social Affairs, Integration and the Environment of the city of Cologne since December 2010.
