Herbert Marner was born in Dernau, Germany, in 1955.
After completing a degree in business administration, he worked for several years in controlling at Control Data GmbH, Frankfurt. From 1981 to 1996, Marner held various positions at Tektronix GmbH, Cologne, with his last function being Manager Central Europe for Finance and Human Resources. From 1996 to 1998, he was Head of the Finance and Controlling department at o.tel.o communications GmbH & Co. KG, Düsseldorf. As Commercial Director of Dolphin Telecom GmbH, Cologne, from 1999 to 2001, Marner played a crucial role in founding this mobile communications provider and launching it on the market.
On 1 September 2001, Herbert Marner joined Koelnmesse as its Commercial Director. Since then he has been actively involved in achieving the company’s turnaround toward sustainably positive results, expanding digital processes and, most recently, planning and implementation of the Koelnmesse 3.0 investment programme for the redesign of the exhibition centre.
Herbert Marner is the CFO responsible for the units Finance and Controlling, Facility Management, IT and Procurement and Internal Services.
