Koelnmesse Ausstellungen made a convincing impression in Berlin with its flexible events concept, CUBESolution: CUBESolution won second place in the “Temporary structures” category for the Location Award 2012. “We showed courage and proved that we have a visionary approach. With the CUBESolution we enter territory which is not part of the traditional area of a trade fair company’s activities. The fact that this has now been recognised with an award makes me very proud”, says Sandra Orth, the managing director of Koelnmesse Ausstellungen, who received the award in Berlin.
At the awards ceremony in the Axel-Springer-Passagen and in the Ullstein Hall in Berlin, more than 600 guests represented a “Who’s who” from Germany’s events and communications sector. “It was a bit like a miniature Oscar ceremony”, reports Sandra Orth. And just like during the Oscar ceremony in Hollywood, at the Location Oscars a short video was first shown about each of those nominated, before the red envelope was opened and the winner was announced
A total of 283 locations put themselves forward for the Location Award 2012, which Locationportale GmbH was now awarding for the third time for Germany’s best events venues in ten different categories. With more than 22,000 votes cast in open online voting, the Internet users first opted for their three favourites in each category. The final decision was taken by a high-powered 10-strong jury of experts in the German events industry. The jury members included Colja M. Dams, managing director of the Vok Dams events agency, Christian Seidenstücker, owner of the JOKE Event AG and Uwe Buhrdorf, managing director of the events technology provider, satis&fy. The only entrant better than the CUBESolution, according to the jury, was the Käfer pasture, an event location in the style of an Alpine meadow which was awarded first prize in the “Temporary structures” category.
