Herbert Marner, Chief Financial Officer of Koelnmesse, was born in Dernau in 1955.
After studying business administration and working for several years in controlling at Control Data GmbH, Frankfurt, Herbert Marner held various roles at Tektronix GmbH, Cologne, from 1981 to 1996, with his last function being Manager Central Europe for Finance and Human Resources. From 1996 to 1998, he was Head of the Finance and Controlling department at o.tel.o communications GmbH & Co. KG, Düsseldorf. As Commercial Director of Dolphin Telecom GmbH, Cologne, from 1999 to 2001, he played a crucial role in founding the mobile network operator and launching it on the market.
On 1 September 2001, Herbert Marner joined Koelnmesse as its Commercial Director. Since then, he has been actively involved in the company’s financial turnaround and the expansion of digital processes and, more recently, has taken a leading role in the planning and implementation of the redesign of the exhibition centre under the Koelnmesse 3.0 investment programme.
As CFO of Koelnmesse, Herbert Marner is responsible for the Finance and Controlling, Facility Management, IT, Procurement and Internal Services units. Since 2020, he has been a Member and serving Vice President Treasurer of the European Major Exhibition Centres Association (EMECA) Board.
