Insight into the everyday life of an apprentice

Koelnmesse's apprenticeship programme is varied and offers exciting insight into the event industry, but what makes the apprenticeship so special from the point of view of (now former) apprentices?

See what Tim Böhle and Corinna Strauch have to say about their Event Management apprenticeships:

These insights will provide you even more impressions of the everyday lives of apprentices and of what the (now former) apprentices particularly appreciate about vocational training at Koelnmesse:

In addition to the activities in the various areas and the lessons at the vocational school, the young people at the trade fair company have the opportunity to organise and carry out various projects independently and thus gain further valuable practical experience. For instance:

  • Koelnmesse's annual summer party is organised by a team of trainees and apprentices
  • The 2nd year of each apprenticeship organises a party for all training officers to thank their trainers and contact persons for their support.
  • All Christmas presents received by Koelnmesse are raffled off for a good cause each year by the apprentices in their 1st apprenticeship year.
  • In the 2nd year of apprenticeship, all the apprentices organise an independent event together with fellow apprentices from their vocational school class. For example, they have organised a family get-together for the Förderverein für Krebskranke Kinder e.V. (foundation for children with cancer) in Cologne or the closing ceremony for the graduate Event Management Assistants at the Joseph-DuMont-Berufskolleg vocational school.
