Institute of Trade Fair Management

Tomorrow’s business leaders will determine the future of the trade fair business! Koelnmesse GmbH founded the Institute of Trade Fair Management on the occasion of the company’s 75th anniversary in the summer of 1999 in cooperation with the University of Cologne with the aim of resolutely bridging the gap between theory and practice for students. We conduct intensive research on trade fair management there with a view to furthering our development as a trade fair organiser.

History of Koelnmesse – a tradition of successful trade fairs

Konrad Adenauer dreamed of creating a global trading centre for the regional economy on Cologne soil: the 1924 Cologne Spring Fair laid the foundations for successful trade fairs in Germany. One century later, after the German Economic Miracle and globalisation, with dedicated employees and top, innovative, international trade fairs in Cologne, Adenauer’s vision has become a reality with Koelnmesse GmbH.
