Expertise meeting on electric mobility and elektro:mobilia trade exhibition to take place in Cologne once again in February 2011

In cooperation with Koelnmesse, the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (ZVEI) will stage the third Expertise Meeting on Electric Mobility and the elektro:mobilia trade exhibition, which will be held in parallel. The events will take place on 23rd and 24th February. More than 300 experts and decision makers from the electric mobility sector are expected to attend. The aim is to actively promote the dialogue between politicians, interest groups and industry in order to forge ahead with the wide-scale introduction of electric drive vehicles. Electric mobility is one of the key technologies of the 21st century and therefore also a force for driving the market development of the associated sectors.

The conference will be opened by Jörg Bode, Minister of Economics, Labour and Transportation of the state of Lower Saxony, and ZVEI President Friedhelm Loh. The speakers will include Prof. Henning Kagermann (Chairman of the National Platform for Electric Mobility), Bernhard Mattes (Chairman of the Board of Management of Ford-Werke-GmbH), Prof. Burkhard Göschel (CTO of MAGNA International); Christian Buchel (Board of Management member of EnBW), Dr. Klaus Probst (Chairman of the Board of Management of LEONI AG), Rolf Lübke (Chairman of the Board of Management of DB Rent GmbH), Rada Rodriguez (Chairperson of the Board of Management of Schneider Electric), Rudolf Cater (Managing Director of Gustav Hendel GmbH), Claus Geisler (Senior Vice President Automotive, Infineon Technologies AG) and Hans-Georg Frischkorn (Managing Director, VDA).

The third Expertise Meeting on Electric Mobility in February 2011 will address the following topics:
* The National Platform for Electric Mobility
* The perspective of the automotive industry, of energy suppliers and of the system and components industry
* The transnational Franco-German electric mobility project
* Raw material availability for electric mobility
* The electric mobility infrastructure
* The Rhine-Ruhr model region
* Charging cables for electric vehicles: The interface between automobiles and the power grid
* The technology for linking buildings to the smart grid
* Batteries and fuel cells in comparison
* Electric mobility and car sharing at Deutsche Bahn

The elektro:mobilia trade exhibition will present electric mobility in the form of exhibits ranging from components and electric vehicles to services.

The premiere of elektro:mobilia in March 2010 was a success, with the exhibition being held in conjunction with the second Expertise Meeting on Electric Mobility. At the exhibition, 25 companies presented their range of offers for infrastructure, technological components, electric vehicles and services. At the Expertise Meeting, more than 300 experts and decision makers from the automotive, energy, electricity and electronics industries as well as from the environmental protection sector provided information about and discussed the state of development and prospects of future-oriented electric mobility.
