No Koelnmesse events will be held in Cologne
in March 2021
h+h cologne planned in purely digital format; IDS postponed until autumn 2021 and Anuga FoodTec until April 2022
In view of the continuing challenges of the coronavirus pandemic in Germany and the expected continuation of extensive restrictions on personal contacts by federal, state and local authorities at the beginning of the new year, Koelnmesse must now forego holding its own events planned at the Cologne location until the end of March.
'Once again, we took this decision following extensive consultations with representatives of the affected sectors', Koelnmesse President and Chief Executive Officer Gerald Böse explained. 'We will remain on track, in coordination with our partners, as we continue working together to re-launch trade fair activities at the earliest possible date.'
The events affected are the International Dental Show IDS, which had been scheduled for 10 to 13 March 2021. It will be postponed until next autumn and will take place from 22 to 25 September 2021. Anuga FoodTec, the supplier fair for the food and beverage industry (originally scheduled for 23 to 26 March 2021) has now been rescheduled for 26 to 29 April 2022. The trade fair for handicrafts and hobbies h+h cologne is planning a purely digital event on the Koelnmesse digital event platform under the title "h+h cologne @home" on the familiar date of
26 to 28 March 2021. The next physical h+h cologne will then take place in Cologne from 18 to 20 March 2022.
'In the interest of the industries now affected and all of our partner industries, we are using this time to prepare ourselves in detail to return to trade fair activities', according to Oliver Frese, the Management Board member responsible for trade fairs as Chief Operating Officer. 'These will certainly be different events compared to the time before the coronavirus pandemic. With this in mind, we are not only working to provide the best safety and hygiene possible on our trade fair grounds. We are also developing powerful digital elements which as new offers and services will ensure economic success for trade fairs while providing new formats and additional international contacts that our exhibitors and visitors can use to achieve their trade fair objectives.'
